Happy Christmas to everyone . 2016 has to be the worst year ever !! . Just a bit worried what 2017 will bring us .
-
Look at Roger Deakins website where he says he did not use the 65 !
-
You really can't belive all you read on IMDB !

Not shot on Alex 65 . Alexa XT studio and other standard Alexa cameras.

Tyler the answer your question to the 6 min clip from "Dunkirk " is it was a 70mm 15/70 Imax print in the correct format that filled the whole Imax screen unlike Rogue One although 70mm film print did not fill the whole screen and I think it was about 1.90 format . This could be because of it was shot in Ultra Panavision70 a ultra wide format and would have lost to much if gone to the correct Imax format .

Tyler I don,t think we could have seen the same film ! I watched a Imax 70mm film print I loved the cinematography and was amazed by the lovely amount of print stock grain on view . The sound mix was fine and worked very well with the visuals . As a movie I really enjoyed it although it could have been a touch shorter .

You should make the effort to see this Phil as Robin says a great film .

Pilot I just shot got picked up
John Holland replied to David Mullen ASC's topic in In Production / Behind the Scenes
Not seen this here . It seems to me on these Pilot shows in the states they get a "A" list DoP to shoot it then if it is taken up someone not so well known will shoot the series . Am I correct ? -
Arri 65 is not an IMAX camera it has the about the same format as Super Panavision 70 / Todd AO . And that format is a long way removed from the original Imax format . Its all a big marketing lie .

The Brute Carbon arc 225 amps needed a DC genny to work .It was the best big lamp ever ! The closest thing now is a 18k HMi , but is crap it's compared to out put of Brute . It was a cost thing your needed a spark looking after it most of the time triming the two arcs . Miss them big time .

Are there any film labs left in Australia ?

Barry Ackroyd BSC- on fair payments for DP's
John Holland replied to Jonathan Flanagan's topic in General Discussion
Anyway back to the topic a DoP should be paid for the grading he/she may have spent weeks or months shooting and the Director must support this practice . Producers will always fight it . -
I don't know no problems with the two labs here in London plus Alpha one mobile lab.

Night Lighting - Balloon VS Dino/Wendy's
John Holland replied to Simon Rowling's topic in Lighting for Film & Video
I would go with the balloon light and maybe use something smaller as back light .
