Baffled - Adapter for dryer outlet to power lights
Ed Conley replied to Bradley Mowell's topic in Lighting for Film & Video
If you only use one side of the receptacles on this UL listed distro box you'll only be using one side of the 2-pole CB in the panel. -

NEC only dictates what is installed in the structure- which would be the receptacle or if an appliance is hardwired. Example: the common 14-50 receptacle can be for an Oven , Kiln or any other appliance , even a 50amp RV power cord uses the same receptacle. NEC does not have jurisdiction on what you plug into the receptacle. -
Used HMI Light. Good investment?
Ed Conley replied to Alexander Sutton Hough's topic in Lighting for Film & Video
Pretty bullet proof though. I can't see the head feeder connectors but if it is a new one made by LEX that are molded type connectors, plan on a repair for that and don't repair it with the same style connector. Contact Galaxy HMI repair and have them put on the metal connectors. Guaranteed to fail. -

How does tungsten light output drop with voltage?
Ed Conley replied to Toni Vucic's topic in Lighting for Film & Video
I assume when he mentions Light Output he has switched to lumens terminology because the last paragraph starts with "The problem is compounded..." a change in voltage changes the Lumens but not linear -

Practical overhead lighting with drop ceiling?
Ed Conley replied to Joey Kopanski's topic in Lighting for Film & Video
Highly likely they will be old heavy magnetic ballasts. they are located inside the fixture so you can't see from the outside anyway.- 5 replies

Baffled - Adapter for dryer outlet to power lights
Ed Conley replied to Bradley Mowell's topic in Lighting for Film & Video
Guy's transformer allows one to get the most out of a 120v/240v outlet. a 30amp 120/240v outlet can provide *7200 watts but the way it is configured that wattage is only available as two 3600 watt lines at 120v. * It is technically a 240v circuit- 240v x 30 amps = 7200 watts Guy's transformer is quite handy when powering up large 120v lights since it offers 60amps @120v on one circuit if used on a 30amp 120v/240v dryer outlet. If you don't need all of the available power you can use an adapter. If anyone cares - the outlet is wired 120v/240v because the heating element uses 240v while the lightbulb and timer on the appliance uses 120v. -

ideally you would want to purchase the Dryer connector and then some cord so you can have some extra length. -

Ed Conley replied to Bradley Mowell's topic in Lighting for Film & Video
making an adapter is easy enough. You start by purchasing a Dryer 4-wire power cord and then attaching female connector on the other end that matches your connectors on the lights. for 120v: Hot ( Red or Black wire) , white, ground. NOTE- YOU DO NEED TO CAP OFF THE OTHER HOT WIRE. https://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-6-ft-4-Wire-Dryer-Replacement-Cord-HD-601-004/202532733 -

What type of connectors are on your 2.5 and 3k lights? You'll have to make your own adapter. -

I can not help directly as we use Tom Pickard and they are on the pricey side but we get Certs issued via online services. I have reached out to a buddy that is freelance camera operator to see who he uses.

DEDO lights. they also have a projector lens attachment. there are Chinese made projector lenses but you would have to make an adapter ring to fit on tweenies. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GJQMYGF/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=cornicellopho-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B07GJQMYGF&linkId=e15d703759c89edf52e304bd52830f7e
