  1. Regarding 4 hour films "Lawrence of Arabia" is a near as makes no difference at 3hours 48 minutes. There are films which are longer than four hours: https://screenrant.com/best-movies-over-four-hours-ranked-imdb/ I gather the longest film ever made is a Swedish film "Logistics" which lasts 35 days and 17 hours, which sounds more like an art installation. The discussion seems to moving into movies v films.

Lightworks is still keeping changes to a minimum during this cycle and hope to be able to release within the next couple of weeks. One new feature in V2021.1.1 is the graphic representation of missing media in transition overlaps. This is an area that causes difficulty for new users.

  5. Operationally, the big difference was that the MK1 Super Speeds had wings, so that you could pull focus with the Arri 16 BL, which had a blimp around the lens. The focus scale was also rather compressed..

  8. Try grading a monochromic image of the scene blue to see how that looks. In the past, they've shot day for night seascape scenes in B & W film and then printed them blue,.

  12. I was told that pushing the loop up on the pressure plate, so that the film springs back to find its natural loop position is the way to go. It always worked for me.
  13. You need to be careful about avoiding knocking the viewfinder, otherwise the verticals can be knocked off. You;re less likely to get unintentional dutch angles with a tripod, but these can happen when hand holding with an off V/F..

This build will be the last of 2020, so the final release of V2021.1 has been delayed to January.
  15. Usually the traditional director's viewfinder covers a 10 to 1 focal length range. Anything out of that range involves using either mounting the shooting lens on a director viewfinder or you could use a digital stills camera and use a "crop factor" or a focal length equivalency table.

These additions gave been made: the ability to display BITC information for Subclip/Sync metadata on sequences, improvements to proxy generation from 4k and higher media when using 'Same as source, improvements to proxies generated from H.265/HEVC media and tooltips to enabled BITC overlay labels on the viewer. There are also various fixes.
  18. Keeping fit when you can't get out is part of it. If you can't go to the gym, doing exercises in your home can work. Long walks or going up and down the stairs for 15 minutes in bad weather will help.

Should needs be, Lightworks may release another Beta build on Friday this week (feedback dependent) in preparation for release. When dragging and dropping into the application, the following have been added: the ability to change the frame rate on an EDL ;the ability to change the frame rate on image sequences; the ability to change the frame rate on Audio Only files. Also. a panel when creating a sequence from a bin for choosing the sequence frame-rate (when the proposed constituent clips don't share the same frame-rate)/ There are various fixes.

The following have been added: the ability to show what the image was on an offline media file. for the 'Associates > Constituents' including subclips if the sequence refers to them and sequence 'constituents' to show marked regions corresponding to the portion that's in use. There are a number of fixes.

It improves the way users select the RED R3D Decode options on the project card and DVEs (2D and 3D) positioning when switching to a different sequence output format. For Mac, support for mac OS version 11.0 (Big Sur) is added. There's also a number of fixes.

The following have been added: 'DCI 4k' (4096x2160) 19:10 as an output option for 4K media. the ability to adjust timeline segment colours (within the sequence timeline 'Settings' panel) and an option on the 'System Settings' panel for choosing how to output source media to the hardware I/O. There are also various fixes.
