  2. Hey all! As the topic reads... I'm urgently Looking for Kodak EXR 50D 16mm film or maybe Fuji 64D... Ideally in New York, but I could travel or pay for post. Film love to you all!
  3. Hi all, I'm looking to shoot a short film on 16mm in the near future, and was hoping for some recommendations of cameras to look into. Bearing in mind that I have to consider other aspects of the shoot, including lenses, I'm willing to pay around £1000. Some features I'm looking for are: Consistency in registration - one thing I've learned from watching various tests is that the results of a given film stock can range from professional to unusable depending on the precision of camera movements. Sync sound - I'm not worried about the volume of the camera itself, since I'll most likely dub dialogue after filming, but I was hoping to use a simple field recorder on set to make the dubbing process easier. Obviously this won't work if there is too much frame rate deviation. Ability to hand hold/shoulder mount. Ease of maintenance - considering that I'll be investing quite a bit of time and money into this project, I'd like to have any second hand gear checked over by a technician without too much cost/hassle. So far, the Eclair NPR is looking like the best bet, but I'd appreciate any other suggestions.
  4. please contact me with details. thanks
  5. I just got my Canon Scoopic 16 back from Bernie at Super16inc and I'm ready to shoot with it. I've really wanted to test the Kodak 500T stock pushed 2 stops to 2000 but expose it at 1600 for a 1/3 overexposure. I'll be shooting downtown Buffalo, NY at night using street lamps and various city lights and really want to see how this performs. I have the original grey model scoopic 16 and from the manual, it says it is F stops not T stops and it's 24fps with 1/64 shutter. I have a sekonic L- 478D-U that I will use for metering. Can anyone give me any tips or let me know if I'm doing something wrong with how I'll be metering and pushing the film? Thanks in advance! -Ryan
  6. Looking for a 2 perf Arricam LT if anyone has one for sale. I have a 416 Plus that I could trade also. All the best, Evan
  7. Hey all! Shooting a small music video on S16 soon, and wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the Aaton XTR vs. SR3 vs. 416. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each when compared against eachother? I'm seeing XTR packages are almost half the price of the SR3, and our budget is tiny so I'm trying to see what I'm giving up for the cheaper price.
  8. Hi everyone, Upon reading my question most of you will probably be like: "...why?", but hear me out. I'm looking for options to mount a recorder/shotgun-mic combo on a Krasnogorsk 3 camera. For my own experimental documentary work I want to use my K3. I've used it a few times now. Hand-processed the film and am mostly satisfied with the results. I'm interested in using non-sync sound with the images. (Playing a lot with the sounddesign in the edit). For this purpose, the images are digitized. I finish most of my projects in digital. I like the K3 for its simplicity and small size. In terms of sound, I'm interested in the things that occur around the image, where the frame ends so to speak. Also - the things heard right before and after a scene. I'll be recording on my own and that's why I need a quick and easy to use setup. Having to put the camera down to handle a recorder-mic combo like a Zoom H6 would be to slow and I think I'd quickly run into situations where I would have no place to put the camera for the time being. Right now, I'm thinking of creating some sort of cage to mount a small recorder-mic unit like the Zoom F1 on top of the camera. Ideally, I'd be able to mount a rosette grip somewhere as well. The K3's is not making it easy on me though. I need to be able to access both sides in order to wind the camera and change the film, and I need to be able to access the back for the viewfinder. So, there it is! If any of you can think of some DIY solutions to this problem please do share! Or if you know of some very modular cages that might be suited, that would be great as well! Thanks!

  10. I recently got an old CP-16A and am trying to restore it to working condition however it has one problem. When I plug it in to ac and run it nothing happens. If I leave the run button on for several minutes it will eventually start to run but very slowly. After a few more minutes it will start to run faster but never reaches sync speed (the red light is always on). If at any point I turn the run switch off the process starts back from the beginning. The power supply is good, it's giving off 20 vdc at 3 amps and I tested the camera with another power supply alligator clipped to the battery terminals and got the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to repair this myself without having to send it in. I'll link a video where you can see the speed ramping up and down on it's own. At the point I'd taken the video the camera had been powered on about 10 minutes.
  11. ....my first EVER footage shot on 16mm is coming back me via certified post tomorrow or the day after.... ...the footage has been Telecine'd to HD size and exported as ProRes 422 on a pen drive.....its coming to me clean of timecode marks etc so I can use in the final edit...... My question is......does anyone use Telecine for final piece edit? Obv its to save money on 2k/4k scans that I ask.... .......the final piece will be on social media and at its largest viewed size on a 43" TV at the factory for tourists to watch when the master blowers are not there making glass at the time OBVIOUSLY all I have to do is watch the footage on the mentioned TV and make a decision but I wanted to know if people in my budget situation use Telecine in final edits Tech details Film: Kodak Vision3 500T Camera: Aaton XTR XC Lens: Cooke Varokinetal 9-50mm Format: Standard 16mm Client: Gibraltar Crystal Footage: master glass blowers making pieces at the glassblowing factory to edit into a piece for marketing purposes and for walk-in visitors to watch
  12. Hi all! I'm interested in pairing the Zeiss CP2 lenses with the Arriflex SR1. Will the flange depth on the CP2s be a able to work with the SR? Is it possible to pair these two? Thank you!
  13. I've recently purchased my first S16 camera (Aaton XTR Prod) and I'm looking to make an investment in a zoom lens I can use for allround purposes and no-budget projects that I can still use on productions where we have the budget to rent e.g. Ultra16s, Super Speeds, S4s/SK4s - Hoping someone in here can give me some advice on the topic. I'm interested in a zoom that has the following properties: PL Mount Close focus of 0.75m or closer Has at least 12-30mm range Preferably ~T2.8 or faster Covers S16 fully For these requirements I've narrowed my options down to either: Angenieux HR 11.5-138 T2.3 Angenieux HR 7-81 T2.4 Cooke 10.4-52mm T2.8 (CVK) Cooke 10.8-60 T3* (CVK) Cooke 10-30 T1.6 (CVP) Cooke 9.5-53 T1.6 (CVT) Cooke 10.6-52 T1.65 (CVT) I didn't include the Canon Zooms as I don't feel like they give me the look I am going for. I also didn't include Zeiss Vario Sonnars in the list because their close focus is too far. But they may be workable with a diopter. I'm afraid of losing sharpness however. Any thoughts? Any other lenses that I might have missed in my research are much appreciated. Do you have any advice on these lenses. And which do you prefer?
  14. Hello folks. I'm reading conflicting stuff about the rating of 16mm stock. Do you guys rate your stock a full stop over or 2/3 for day exterior? How about night exterior? I'll be shooting 250D and 50D mostly for now, on regular 16. I'm already compensating for the prism light loss on my Bolex Rex5 so I don't want to overexpose too much. What are your experiences? Thanks for your input!

  17. <iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/258354917"width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe> Tyler Burns - "Knock On Wood/Frankenthaler" Shot this 9.5 minute double music video/short film on Kodak 16mm MPF (50D, 250D, 500T) with an Aaton XTR Prod and Zeiss Primes MKI over the course of almost 3 years in Oregon. 18. Hello everyone, 4 lenses for sale, in excellent working condition. A nice complementary set, all in PL mount: 3x Carl Zeiss and 1x Panther Carl Zeiss Distagon 8mm T* 2.1T Carl Zeiss Distagon 16mm T* 1.3T Carl Zeiss Distagon 25mm T* 1.3T Panther Cinar Super 16 35mm 1.3T Information on the Panther: "in the 1990s Panther got these lenses custom made in small batches. Since there is no 35mm lens in the Zeiss lens set for Super16 and since the 8mm Zeiss lens would not cover Super16 it makes sense to get such lenses custom made to complement a Zeiss lens set." £3800 for the set.

  20. Hello everyone, I recently got a Canon Scoopic Ms and it's ready to roll. The camera is very easy to use and I found some helpfull info here and on other websites, but I couldn't find the user manual. Do you guys have a pdf version that you can share? I have the Scoopic M user manual and the camera is very easy to use, but maybe someone can tell me what the "Remote" options printed in orange and only available on the MS version do. Was there a remote for the camera? Can the camera be triggered electronically? Thanks in Advance.

I have the machinery and materials its mainly about documentation and info, there doesn't seem to be too much of it out there. The main problem I can see just now is the view finder, everything should be alright to figure. Can't wait to hear back. Finlay
