  1. And you are dealing with a seller who sold it to Andy??? Andy should file the complaint. No seller is going to discuss with a third party.
  2. You have splicer or not? The pre-cut aren't that much easier to use. Are you going to do processing yourself?
  3. Private sellers don't refund that often or so easily. In some countries business sellers have some more obligations. If you got it from Oeyhausen Germany you are fried. Although he is a business seller and German authorities are not so forgiving. You better claim through Paypal or eBay. Either it is fully undo the deal and send back all or no undo. Taking parts of the deal and make up your own estimates is hardly a concept which will stand. The obligations you had to third parties have no meaning to the deal or duties of the seller.
  4. Have you got the splicers/presses already? Rollsplicer (like CIR Catozzo) are a bit more expensive to purchase but are cheapest in the long end as the rolls supply plenty of splices and don't cost that much. These pre-cut tab things cost 20 cents per piece if not more. Unless you get lucky and find a forgotten batch :)
  5. Well, currently forget to print 3D anything that needs to be precise or to take or project force. I.e. cogs, levers, tight fiting parts. Or anything made of metal. :) Also, anything will be extremely expensive.
  6. The Fomapan is cut and slit by FOMA itself. Sold as DS-8 to the public. Who can use it or slit it themselves to fit Kaccema or others. Wittner buys 300meter long rolls and slits and cuts these into Kodak cartridges for Witner label. Wittner doesn't perf S8 themselves. Accordign to their website they are still thinking about getting a die and mask for their machine. So someone else is doing the perforating.
  7. There is hardly anything special in the components. Costs are apparently in the software. The design must make up for the lack of delivered hardware :) You need to wait until some manufacturer shows up on alibaba.com :) With all these millions of miles of family film I am amazed there aren't a number of high end equipment suppliers from China. The stupidest of gadgets are thought of. All these HD cameras should be feasible to be run with an adapter which can scan Super-8 from 200ft reels. How difficult can it be?
  8. Here is another videotap, must work using a splitter in the base of the lens.
  9. There are extentions to the 4008 grip to level the bottom horizontal for a tripod, underwaterhousing or to have a fixing point for a matte box. Some of these have a nice shape which helps people who don't like the standard thing. Maybe you want something like on this 70-ies Beaulieu mock-up/study-model :) I suppose it allwos one finger extra.
  10. There are tripod adapter for iPhones... It is fun and it can be handy but the essence for a videotap is that the screened image can be watched from a place not behind the camera. Today are are plenty of USB type cameras close focus lenses. There are endoscope types and there are even dental USB cameras. To check your own molars. So there must be nice cameras like this http://www.cine-super8.net/index.php?ordpp=4&idp=151 which don't cost an arm and a leg. Or the Kaiser Zigview. Important for computer free operation is to have a video ouput on it which can go directly into the display panel.
  11. The oddity is of course that it cannot both 6008 and 7008 as the register pin is in a differnt position :)
  12. If you had plans to bid for it then you had better not metioned the item in a group of people with the same interests or intent.
  13. Lead batteries? It is about the NiCd from a Beaulieu 4008.
  14. This acs410 Ansmann is a really nice apparatus. I use it all the time to charge all types of NiCd and NiMh around the house. I use it on a 4008 7.2 blocks and on 6008 large 8.4volt blocks. Mostly external though. The only disadvantage with the Ansmann is that it cannot scan completely emptied batteries and will not start charging then either :(
  15. Toronto has LIFT http://lift.ca/ Don't they have all you need/want?
  16. Please elaborate on how this Beaulieu SD8/60 does work. I see no interlocking plate. There is no stoppage bender. And I doubt there is a speed regulator on the sprocketed hub in the middle. Does it work at all? I don't have this thing. Images were save from webpages/auctions.
  17. Then what is point of having lenses collimated to cameras when the position of the filmplane is not fixed? People split hairs over the effect of a gel filter and the filmplane cannot be bothered with? And what does the Framemaster (Euro 120 chromed plate insert for S8 cartridges) do when it cannot press and fix the film in a defined plane?
  18. The rims on the gate-aperture are for guiding the cartridge plate. It would not work with standard thickness either. It cannot be that precise. Of course it presses the film itself. The friction of the plate is the essence to make the film stand still when the claw is not pushing the film. The pull of the wind-up would always move the film and all frames would be blurred.
  19. For registration one could expose a dot in the border. There could even be a QR code in the side to mark/number the frames.
  20. You could find an old Fujica single-8 camera and take the plate, springs and support from that... You will be amazed at the simpleness of this plate. No chrome or such. Likely it cost only a dime in manufacturing.
  21. Yesterday was 14 days past April 1st. Fools day in some locations. :) It was almost three years ago. If you have some spare time: http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=46314 It is only nine long pages. The best part :) The only thing is that DS8 supplies have been reduced considerably. But maybe Wittner brings back some when they start to use their own puncher. You have over 3000 posts and didn't notice this thread?
  22. You are late by 14 days. This has been discussed last year and the subject is moot.
  23. Well, otherwise some entrepreneurs would buy from them and list the films eBay-elsewhere and add a Euro 10. Quantity buying is off limit as well. Easy to understand as they feel they must service users rather then resellers :) But indeed the days of Euro 15 S8 film seem to be over. Although the Vision 50D can be had at a much better price. Outside EU (and ex sales tax). Somehow EU sellers expect a way higher margin on these films then other sellers. While wholesale on these pallet-quantities one would expect to be as low as elsewhere.
  24. Was it a Schneider 6-66 or 6-70 lens? It is certainely a nice demonstration what imagery can be captured with this combo. It should boost the sales value of Beaulieu 4008 Schneider sets :) If the film functions this well there are some other sets who should bring out the same. Likely it is Ektar rather than the reverse. One would hope the designers of this camera and the lens-team, when still alife, are shown this clip of film. :) But possibly they were quite aware what was possible with the machine. They must have the tested the lens with low-ISO film which was then as sharp as could be but which now seems available in a regular film.
  25. Recentring the main lens with view-finder optics seems impossible to me. Possibly the screw-holes of the widened gate are widened too. SInce there is a bit of play in the mechanism it could possibly work to put the gate back in while off-centring this a bit. The cartridge-plate has plenty play and will find the hubs on the gate to align itself. Untested theory! Maybe the viewfinder can be adjusted like in the Beaulieu 4/6/7/9000 ?
