  1. Gecko-Cam offer rehousing two lines of vintage Zeiss glass but the Genesis G35 series is their own design. Lenses and mechanics are inspired by Canon K35 lenses but the Genesis lenses are designed and manufactured from scratch and available with different coatings. Lens mount is user exchangeable and so are the rings with metric or imperial distance marks. I just received my 16mm lens today and I am blown away.
  2. I can't find any guidance how to set up Teradek MDRX with the Cinetape. I do have the right cable and the Cinetape is displaying the correct distance. Now I am just not sure how to set this combo up on the MDRX.
  3. For anyone struggling with the same predicament, I solved my situation with this bracket by Ronford-Baker. Not cheap but solid as a steam train! Ronford-Baker Cinetape Bracket RB-80241
  4. I bought some empty sand bags and would love to fill them with proper lead shot this time. I think that is just going to be so much heavier. The prices I have been able to find are prohibitive. Do you guys have any sources you can recommend for the good stuff at an affordable price?
  5. I have to resize my photographs to post here. Let me know if you are still interested. I made this from a (maple wood?) Ikea table top.
  6. If I may piggyback on this post: In this BTS shot from The Crown they are putting something down in front of the dolly. What is that black stuff they are using? Some kind of black rubber mat, carpet patches or maybe stained plywood?
  7. I just purchased an old Mini MOY head that I am told was used by Aardman Animations. It is in outstanding shape and has zero play. They used it with step motors instead of the wheels. I have no experience with geared heads and operating the pan wheel I am wondering if it just takes more practice or if the wheels are not weighted enough to "run round". I wish it had a tad more inertia. The tilt wheel is no problem but I find it difficult to pan with consistent speed. The slight difference in strength applied when my hand reaches the far side of the wheel as opposed to the other side when it is close to me is clearly visible. So my question is do I need more practice (of course, yes) or should I be looking for an upgrade in heavier, bigger wheels? The MOY wheels attach with a very specific slotted mechanism and a captive thumb wheel in the center. I am looking for hand wheels that feature a compatible mounting mechanism so I don't have to have anything machined, which gets real expensive fast. Do you guys have any advice where might I turn for a new set of compatible hand wheels?
  8. Hey Ben, do you know where I can get spare replacement parts for one of these MOY geared heads?
  9. The FX6 has chroma subsampling 4:2:2 while I believe the F55 has 4:4:4:4. The FX6 and no global shutter, right? I am also excited about X-OCN. In September 2024 I purchased the R7 for $1,800. if you have a card adapter you can use the same card reader you used for the R5 and those are insultingly cheap on eBay right now. I do prefer a S35 imager so old cine lenses work. With full frame I'd either be filming with stills lenses or in crop mode. Full frame cine glass is just prohibitively expensive for me. Honestly I am not so sure the FX6 can compete. Am I wrong?
  10. Yes it was. Seller in Japan. Super fast shipping and excellent communication.
  11. Hey Joe, do you remember who made this bracket/plate? I am still very eager to find one.
  12. I just bought the R7 in extremely good condition (62 operating hours) for $1.500. Keep your eyes peeled.
  13. This is exactly the part I am looking for. Is this still available?
  14. I might have misunderstood but I saw an interview with Rob Hardy on YouTube and as a throwaway line he said he shot the entirety of Ex-Machina at the same aperture that was shot mostly on Sony F65 and some outdoors scenes on F55.
  15. Ronford Baker are based out of the UK and have these items in store. Not cheap but excellent!
  16. I use a neoprene shoulder strap attached to the camera to assist me when I hold the camera cradled under my arm. This little bit of stretchiness makes it super comfortable and is a great help in smoothing out my steps. I don't remember where I picked it up. I have the attachment points positioned on the top handle's front-left and rear-right using these tiny quick releases, the military uses for gun straps.
  17. If you need to keep it super cheap these Camvate grips are very sturdy and comfortable in your hands: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N63M8NP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  18. Fantastic, thanks Scott!
  19. LOL thanks Tyler, but that was not my question. ?
  20. Speaking of NOPE I have a slightly tangential question. Does anybody recognize the lens on this camera and can you venture a guess why Antlers Holst, the character of the DP in the movie might have chosen it? Also what's that harness around the lens. Is this to attach a lens blimp? Thanks guys.
  21. My understanding is that the two cameras can’t occupy the same physical space. So in order to shoot exactly along the same axis they position them at a 90 degree angle and shoot through a prism, kind of like a teleprompter. Can anyone confirm my guess?
  22. Hey Paul, do you know of any variable electronic ND filters that are not integrated into a camera but can be used in a matte box? I see that Panasonic had something in the pipeline but I have not seen anything hit the market yet. Have you?
