  1. I'd like to find a 2-perf, 3-perf or Super 16 camera. My budget is $3,000-5,000. My first choice would be for a 2-perf with a lens, second choice is a 3-perf with lens and third choice is a Super 16 with a lens. My range on price is with the expectation that a 2-per or 3-perf with a lens is going to be on the high end of my budget while a Super 16 with no lens should be at the low end. Of course if someone has an Arricam ST 2-perf with some Cooke lenses they like to sell me for $3,000, I'd be happy to be proven wrong on my price estimates. :D Seriously, if I'm way off on my price expectations, please let me know. If you have a film camera that's been sitting unused or under utilized, please consider dusting it off and sending it to a good home. I have a short I'd like to shoot in December with kids from the local theater club and crew from the local University. If we can pull that off, we've got plans for a feature to shoot in June.
  2. Hi everyone! New to the forums here, but I have a nice camera im parting ways with! Selling an a-minima package. It turns on and the motor seems to run just fine! I do not have any S16 film to run through it though. The camera looks like it is in great condition and needs a home that can actually love it (I basically just admire it). Asking $6500 OBO - PayPal only, please. IMAGE GALLERY: https://imgur.com/a/9sq8yhS Package Includes - Camera (PL Mount) - 2 magazines - 1 take up reel - 4 batteries - 2 charging stations - 4 charging cables (2 per station) - Flight case w/laser cut foam CONDITION As I can't run any film, I can't guarantee its functionality 100%, the motor does run though, and I suspect film will run through just fine as well! The body and accessories are clean. What you see in the photos is EXACTLY what you get. Shipping & Returns Ships free via fedex ground in the CONUS (fee for AK, HI, Canada), insured, signature required. Happy to do express or overnight at buyers expense, but they would be quite expensive... This is sold AS-IS. Please ask any questions, I will be happy to answer! Thanks for looking!
  3. I've recently purchased my first S16 camera (Aaton XTR Prod) and I'm looking to make an investment in a zoom lens I can use for allround purposes and no-budget projects that I can still use on productions where we have the budget to rent e.g. Ultra16s, Super Speeds, S4s/SK4s - Hoping someone in here can give me some advice on the topic. I'm interested in a zoom that has the following properties: PL Mount Close focus of 0.75m or closer Has at least 12-30mm range Preferably ~T2.8 or faster Covers S16 fully For these requirements I've narrowed my options down to either: Angenieux HR 11.5-138 T2.3 Angenieux HR 7-81 T2.4 Cooke 10.4-52mm T2.8 (CVK) Cooke 10.8-60 T3* (CVK) Cooke 10-30 T1.6 (CVP) Cooke 9.5-53 T1.6 (CVT) Cooke 10.6-52 T1.65 (CVT) I didn't include the Canon Zooms as I don't feel like they give me the look I am going for. I also didn't include Zeiss Vario Sonnars in the list because their close focus is too far. But they may be workable with a diopter. I'm afraid of losing sharpness however. Any thoughts? Any other lenses that I might have missed in my research are much appreciated. Do you have any advice on these lenses. And which do you prefer?
  4. I'm looking to buy an Arri 416. Please reach out if you have one for sale. Thanks, J
  5. Hi, It's kind of a long story… but this is the second copy of this wonderful lens that I own and now need to sell. I really think it has a magic look and that it's also great since it's so compact. Made for Super16 cameras. In PL mount. The lens is in good condition and the mechanics are smooth. The front and back element has some tiny marks but given it's age it's still good. Comes in custom flight case. Asking 2800€ + shipping. Located in Stockholm , Sweden Thanks/Kalle
  6. Shot on Super 16. Kodak Vision3 Stocks. 200T and 50D.
  7. Amazing Cooke 10.8-60 in PL Mount. Get the Cooke look at a fraction of the price. Originally a Cooke 9-50 for 16mm but modified for Super 16. The modification itself cost over $1500. This kit comes with a custom case, lens support and 8" 15mm rods. The glass is in amazing shape. There are a few specs of dust which you can refer to the images for but otherwise perfect shape. 9. I'm selling my lovely Canon S16 vintage zoom lens. I think there is already said enough about this outstanding beautifully S16 zoom lens. Selling it because I need the money for some other investment. Don't think there is one of these zooms in better condition out there than my one - everything clean, everything smooth! The only thing what I can mention is, that there is a tiny cleaning mark on the rear glass which doesn't affect anything and it's even hard to recognize. Asking 2100 Euro + shipping costs! The lens is based in Vienna/Europe! Payment via paypal!

  11. ...I sent my Aaton XTR XC to England for service, battery recell etc before I start rolling with it and Alan tells me the camera can't be converted to Super16mm as the "gate and ground glass have been swapped for regular 16mm only"...... so I stopped to think.....is it really worth all the hassle converting to Super 16mm after all?... Am I going to shoot a film on 16mm film that's going to appear in a large cinema theatre screen........prob never....and if what I shoot appears on Vimeo, YouTube, and viewed on tablets and smartphones - ironically the iPad Pro screen is practically the 4 x 3 ratio - should I not just stick with standard 16mm format? .....would appreciate thoughts.....no idea on the costs at this point to get the parts I love it by the way.....the design and ergonomics and the feel of the Aaton...glad I bought it
  12. Hi, Selling a Kinoptik 9mm f1.5 lens for Super16 in PL mount. Good condition on both optics and mechanics. Looking to get 1000€ including shipping. There's one on Ebay now for 1999 US dollars. Located in Stockholm, Sweden but will ship world wide if needed. I'll gladly answer any questions and send pictures. Thanks/Kalle

  14. Hi there, I'm trying to get an idea of the image quality of shooting a landscape (more specifically a desert landscape) in Super 16. Does anyone know any films/scenes from films that I could watch to get an idea of this? Right now I'm deciding between shooting in s16 or 2 perf 35mm. If I shot s16 I'd probably be using an SR3 with Arri/Zeiss Ultra 16s Thanks! David

  16. Hey! Interested in a Super 16 Ikonoskop A-Cam SP 16 and/or an Aaton A-Minima. Let me know. Thanks
  17. For sell a Zeiss SuperSpeed 9.5mm T1.3 S16, a great luminous wide angle cine lens. I sell it because i search a zoom instead of primes. Price is 900 Euros + shipping. Regarding the state of the optics there is no mushroom / fungus / dust inside. There are slight "cleaning marks" on the glass, as well on the front and rear element, obviously not affecting the image. But there is no claw or crack on the glass. I bought it for a French DP who took great care. Cosmetically really in good condition, the paint and the numbers / lettering are there. The aperture ring is very fluid, the focus ring is less fluid, a little harder, but it doesen't affect the focus at all, change focus is easy. Super Speeds are among the best Super 16 lens and they have been used on many feature films. The resulting image is still impressive today. This is a test that I realized with the Blackmagic Pocket: https://vimeo.com/129887125 I am at your disposal for any additional questions, optic can be seen in Belgium. The lens is Arri Bayonet mount, also i sell the adapter Arri Bayonet to MFT from Ciecio7 for 90 euros extra. This adapter is one of the best available adapter and is shimmable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arri-Bayonet...-/251176724708
  18. Hey, I'm looking for some technical expertise.. I have an Arri SR3 Adv, with a video assist - see pic. The output is an analogue phono cable which I have running into a small 7" monitor. The only practical use for the video assist, and all I need it for, is framing. All in all the set-up works pretty well, but it would be handy if I had a way to record the video assist image. Does anyone know a simple way to record the signal? Either an affordable small recording monitor with phono input, or I was thinking perhaps some hardware and software to turn the analogue signal to digital and record on a laptop. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks, Greg
  19. Hi! I'm looking for a used Aaton A-minima. All offers considered, but if possible I'd like a kit with the following: 3-4mags, powerbase, wooden handgrip, batteries and charger, blimp, top handle, PAL video assist. EU sale preferred if possible. Sadly for any seller I've seen that the prices for A-minimas have gone down quite a lot… but if you sell to me you'll at least know that it will be loved and used :) Looking forward to hear from you! Take care/Kalle, Sweden (contact info at www.kallefolke.se)
  20. Total novice here preparing to shoot a short film on S16... Quickly looking at these film grabs of Christopher Doyle's work makes me wonder how he controls the two color palette across almost the entire film... int/ext shots. Film-Grab.com: Fallen Angels (green/red) Happy Together (cyan/yellow) Days of Being Wild (blue/green) In the Mood for Love (blue/red) 2046 (blue/red) I think he uses Tungsten so my amateur question is whether he is mainly controlling color by gels, set design, or color grading in post. Or all three. I'm wanting to have similar control of color in my film and not sure how to achieve it. Here are some more specific examples/questions/curiosities: 1) green clock with red lights coming in through window? 2) how does he flood everything with green, the stock? post? but the red helmet and light seem unaffected, how? 3) red/orange hair with surrounding green? is that just a gel on her hair with barn doors or flags to not get the curtain? (her hair is a blonde wig) 4) how is there so much green in this image? post? 5) yellow light coming through window? green light in background? warm light on face? are these all gels? 6) In Happy Together is has the cyan/yellow look and I understand it is much more possible to control this with all the interiors... but how does he do it with the day exteriors, obviously that is not natural color. Is this just post color grading? I could go on and on... but I think this shows the lack of knowledge at hand and what I am trying to learn about. Thanks ahead to all those who chime in!

  22. Hello everyone! I'm aware that there are numerous other topics about s16 zoom lenses. However, I'd like to hear your advice/thoughts on these particular PL-mount lenses (some of them only PL Adapters) mentioned below as I'm planning to buy one of them for my Aaton A-Minima PL. The lens will be used for more personal, S16 film projects (hence these "lower-budget" lenses): - Angenieux 9.5-57 T1.6-2.2 | PL Adapter on Arri Bayo Mount - Angenieux 9.5-95 T2.5 | converted to PL mount - Angenieux 12-240 F3.5 | converted to S16 with PL mount - Cooke 9-50 T2.5 | PL Adapter on Arri Mount - Zeiss Vario Sonnar 12.5-75 T2 | S16?? // PL Adapter - Zeiss Vario Sonnar 10-100 F2.8 | S16?? // PL Adapter on Arri Mount Looking forward on reading/hearing your thoughts about breathing, vignetting, combining it with a Minima etc. Thanks in advance, Alex
