Hi all, Been a long time lurker but finally registered an account. My recently acquired SR2 is finally back from servicing with Andree Martin/AM Camera. Now that I have the camera back, I'm finalizing my setup. I'm currently struggling with choosing a modern matte box that will work with my setup. My primary lens (which came with the kit) is a vintage Zeiss Vario Sonnar 10-100 f1.8 t2 zoom lens. I think it is a mark 1, but not sure. I'm also not sure if the lens diameter is 80 or 87mm. It is a telescoping lens, so the lens changes sizes when adjusting the focus. From my understanding, a rubber bellows is needed on the rear of matte box to "move" with the lens as focus changes to prevent unwanted light leaks and reflections. The kit came with a Arri 4x4 studio 15mm matte box. However, this seems way too big for my needs. I'm looking for a modern, lightweight matte box solution (think SmallRig/Tilta/Wooden) that can work with the telescoping Zoom and attach to 15mm LWS rods. I spoke with DuAll Camera and they offered a Cinetech 3 stage 4x5 matte that comes with rear rubber bellows. However, they said it's a little bigger than the studio matte box that came with my kit. I want something as small as possible and lightweight so it can fit in my main Pelican case, as well as not make my setup huge and heavy. I've attached a photo of my lens and two bellows/donuts that came with the kit. Can I use any of the following matte boxes with the bellows I have to ensure focus adjustments/telescoping don't mess with anything? Du All also said to only use rod supported boxes, as clip ons will make focus stiff. Option 1 - Tilta t04 4x4 lightweight mattebox Option 2 - Tilta mbt12 matte box Option 3 - Wooden Camera UMB-1 mattebox Option 3 - SmallRig Star trail lightweight matte box I would look on the used market for deals on these. Thanks everyone for sharing your knowledge and keeping film alive! I look forward to the discussion. Cheers, Moon

Hello! I am trying to get 12V out of my Arri SR2 HS from 11 pin Fischer connector at the back for the accessory, but when I measured the voltage it appears to be only 2,5V :(. For the pinout I found a scan from Jon Fauer "Arriflex SR book" scanned and uploaded in the other topic on this forum. (Original topic with the scheme here:) What is even stranger, the voltage slightly changes, and can even go to zero when I turn the potentiometer knob on a "GLOW" that is on the side of my camera - also pictures attached: Do you have any ideas what could be causing the problem? When I unplug the two wires that power the GLOW, camera will not run. I will appreciate any ideas! Thank you! Adrian

I've been a commercial photographer for 25 years, started DP and directing a decade ago, broadcast and streaming commercials, documentary and docu-series working with Arri Alexa, Amira, Red, Sony. A friend picked up this SR2 in Iraq in 2003 from a Brit filmmaker, my friend was there for NatGeo filming. He has a terminal illness and gave me the Arri SR2 w/Angenieux 10-150 and an additional high speed magazine. The SR2 is serial # 63831. I'm planning on filming with it and getting it set up (it needs a new cell or replacement battery - the casing is there but empty inside, just 2 wires). Ideal would be to convert to a V-Mount if possible. And down the road convert to Ultra16 (DeMarco/Aranofsky). I'm curious it has a High Speed magazine, How do I tell if the camera is a High Speed version (10-150fps)? If not can I use the high speed magazine as a standard mag? iPhone snaps attached.

Hey everyone, I recently purchased an Arri SRII S16 and have really enjoyed re-familiarizing myself and learning to be more comfortable with film. I have some questions though regarding the video assist and power. Video Assist In the grand scheme of things, I would love to be able to use modern monitoring systems with my SRII such as a Teradek and SmallHD monitors. The video assist is of course analog, and I would need to convert the CVBS signal to SDI and I am having trouble doing so. I've tried Blackmagic's analog to SDI converter, but I believe it can only take analog over SDI for input so that did not work. I then tried Aja's V2Digital converter and had the same issue. I've tried contacting Aja's customer service, but have yet to reach anyone. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can convert this signal? If not, looks like I'll just be going to traditional standard def on-board monitor. Power I have two 12v onboard Arri batteries that work great. But I was wondering what I could do to replace those with gold mount batteries? I know that I can get a goldmount plate with 4-pin xlr for power, but am concerned that if I place a charged 14v-16v goldmount on there, I'm going to fry the board on my camera. I would need some sort of 12v regulator, but am having trouble finding one so I'm thinking I could maybe build one? Thoughts? I know I could probably go with a battery belt, but I was hoping to keep everything compact. Thank you!

FOR SALE: ARRI SR2 SUPER-16 w/ Color Tap + Zeiss S16 Zoom Lens - FULL Camera Package Parting ways with my S16 Arri SR2. This camera has been incredible to own and I'm sure I'll regret selling it down the road but the time has come. The camera is in great working condition. I've never had a single problem with it. Hi everyone. I was wondering if it could be optically possible to adapt an SR3 original eyepiece, designed to cover the super16 format, to an Arriflex SR1 (super16 converted) viewfinder. Do anyone know if it could be relatively easy to replace the sr3 eyepiece's mount and eventually recycling an old sr1 eyepiece's mount to let it compatible with that? What problems should I face and how could I do? Thanks

Hello everyone, I was hoping to get some advice on how to remove the front of my SR2 and gain access to the lens shown in the photo here to hopefully remove it. I am trying to gain access to the screws that you can see here and I assume that I need to remove the front panel of the camera to do so. If anyone has any exploded views of the camera or any advice it would be a great help! Thanks so much for your time!

Hey guys, I recently purchased an Arri SR2 Highspeed and have some questions regarding a connector I found on my camera that is not on the manual nor in any other SR2 I've ever used. The cover on it says F9 and it has 7 pins on top and 7 holes on the bottom half of it. Any ideas on what this is? Cheers! Manuel

Hello, The eyepiece on my SR2 used to open and close when I applied pressure, preventing unwanted light passing through when not filming. It has stopped doing that and is just constantly open. Anyone have any advice on how to fix it? I have tried to wiggle it ect Cheers, Ed

Hi there, I am new here, hello! ?My first question is about an Arriflex SR2 mag I just bought. I have a SR2 that was moified for S16 long time ago. Now I would like to know what modification I would need to do to use a normal SR mag with my camera. Is it only the pressure plate or are there any other modifications that I need to go through? I read somewhere that the tunnels must be widened but I dont really see why because the material is the same, isn't it? ? Yours, D.C.

Hi, Thank you for all the answers of my last topic. Now I have a question regarding the viewfinder of my SR2. There are some dirty spots in the frame when I look through it. The lens is clean so it must be the viewfinder. How can I clean it? Can I open / unscrew it from the body? Any recommendations? ? Thanks for reading, D.C.

Hey there. Question pertaining to an Arri SR2 and the Cinematography Electronics Precision Speed Control 2. I’ve got the Precision Speed Control 2 hooked up to my SR2 and set to 24fps. When I run the camera, there’s a bit of a clanking sound and it sputters around 10fps for about 5secs, then ramps up to 40fps for about 5secs, then ramps back down to around 10fps. All in all, pretty out of control. As I’ve messed with it, it has hit 24fps for a sec, then starts running wild. I ran the camera without the Speed Control and it ran smooth. Two questions. 1. Any troubleshooting ideas? 2. (probably a dumb question) can you run the camera without the Speed Control and be fine if the project will have no sound sync? I’ve only ever shot with a Speed Control so if I resorted to shooting without it, it’d be a new experience. Thanks!

Hey there. Got a question regarding an SR2 and low frame rates. I own an SR2 with a speed control. I know at 24fps it's 180 degrees or about 1/50th of a second. If I change the fps on the speed control, to say 12fps, does the camera stay fixed at 1/50th or is it locked on 180 degrees and result in 1/24th a second? Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks!

Hello, My SR2 powers on right when I connect the battery. Is there suppose to be a on/off/standby power switch like in the photo below? Or is that just how some model are? Usually I won't attach the battery until right before I'm ready to roll, to just make sure it isn't left rolling unintentionally or draining the battery. Thanks

Hi, I was wondering whether anyone knows a good place to buy 2 inch plastic film cores for an Arri SR2? I can only see a few for sale on eBay with quite high shipping prices. Quite a lot to pay for something that will be sent off to the lab. Also, could anyone enlighten me to the different uses of 2 inch vs 3 inch film cores? are 2 inch to hold 100' rolls and 3 inch for 400'? Many thanks!
