Hi all, I thought you might like to know all about the new and VERY rare LEITZ PRIMES from Leica/Leitz! They're spherical cine lenses and produce incredible, vintage-like rainbow flares. Leitz claim the Leitz Primes are ‘the best of the best’. As Shift 4 are the only UK rental company stocking this state-of-the-art lens set, they invited some of the UK’s most talented Cinematographers, DoPs, Focus Pullers and Camera Operators to a lens test and also shot a short film to investigate the Leitz claim. There seems to be a problem with my Schneider-Kreuznach 10mm lens for Arriflex ST. Whenever I've used it it's produced a cloudy/fogging image (see image) - this happens whether I use a matte box or not. I enquired with one lens servicing/repair company here in the UK and they suggested that the doublet elements might have separated, if this was indeed the case, they quoted £450 to fix it. If it was an issue with the coating, however, they said that couldn't be fixed by them. I should say that they were going by the pictures i sent and didn't have the lens itself to inspect. Anyway, what's your advice regarding this? £450 sounds a great deal of money to spend on the lens, especially considering you can buy another one for less than that. What should I do? Any suggestions? It would be a shame for the lens to simply not be used anymore.

Hi you all :) I recently bought some cheap Chinese fresnel lights just to see if they are any good or not. I wrote some thoughts to my blog, and there is also lots of images! http://aapolettinen.blogspot.fi/2014/09/chinese-fresnels-are-they-any-good.html I'd say it is very risky to order this type of gear directly from China. Luckily I have worked years with professional lights so I dared to try these cheap counterparts just to see if they can be used safely by anybody...

The camera body comes with the coveted and ultra rare BandPro wet dock, as opposed to the bulky IF box. In addition to being a lot smaller than the IF box, the BandPro wet dock has four 1.5G HDSDI outputs, to deliver 12 bit 4:4:4, GPIO output, and power output to an external recorder. I am also including a custom-made V-mount battery plate with integrated belt clip, a custom-made AC power adapter, to power the camera from a 120V outlet, and the original top handle. Everything is in good to very good physical condition and 100% functional. The time has come for me to part with my treasured Sony Cinealta F35 camera. This is a legendary camera used in many visually stunning feature films like Tron Legacy, Transformers Dark of the Moon, Real Steel, and one of my personal favorites, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia. To this day the Sony F35 produces one of the most filmic images of any camera thanks to its 4.5K (12.4 megapixel) CCD sensor, global shutter, film-like highlight rolloff and vast color spectrum. I have spent a long time finding the right camera and all the components, some extremely rare, that make up this complete, top of the line, F35 cinematography kit. Some of the rare components are the BandPro "wet dock" (interface plate), made for the Real Steel film production, that replaces the old and bulky IF box and outputs quad 1.5G HD-SDI, along with GPIO and power. Paired with the Codex Onboard Recorder M, this enables the highest quality output from the camera as well as triggering the recorder from the F35 REC button. Although you may find some Onboard Recorders on eBay, without the extremely rare Data Transfer Station to unload the footage, the recorder is basically useless. Codex Data Transfer Stations are nearly impossible to find these days and are very expensive. In this kit I am including everything you need to record, playback, and offload your footage. You just need to add a battery and a lens, and you are ready to go.
