K Borowski
What on earth are you talking about? R, Richard, I don't know what he is talking about, maybe the prior porn thread, but, despite there not being a "popcorn popping" emoticon here, I am definitley popping popcorn right now. This thread is about to get as interesting as the last one B)
Guest
I'm surprised by the reaction, I'm not chastising any one or taking the moral high road. I simply thought that most people in the this industry consider the porn industry to be in a totally different world. I didn't say ban it and throw the makers in jail. Sheesh. Tom Lowe
I LOL'd at the thread title. Considering how torn up most porn girls are, I would go with HVX200 with some serious diffusion filters. ;)

Premium Member Chad Stockfleth Posted September 27, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted September 27, 2008 You would seriously defend the porno movie "industry" Chad? R, I wouldn't say "defend" it, but I'm not going to judge the tech's who work on it. There's a time and a place for everything. For me, the porn industry IS an entirely different world, as is the feature film world, as is television news, but we all make images using cameras and lights so I'm game to talk about it with anyone. Cheers Richard! chad
James Steven Beverly
...Didn't we have this conversation already? (Anyone remember the RED/pr0n thread a while back?) Shoot on film, man! GO FILM OR GO HOME! :P Give the production company some sort of deceptively wholesome name like "Puppies and Yellow Flowers" and start calling up rental houses. I <3 this forum....   Right ON, sister!!! "Puppies and Yellow Flowers"starring Stormy Daniels, a rutabaga, 14 midgets and Spanky the Wonder Gerbil !!! AVN's 2009 best pic of the year!! Just make sure when you check prices to include rental on a splash guard and rain cover. :D Leave Richie alone man, SOMEBODY on this board should have a moral cumpass! Edited September 28, 2008 by James Steven Beverly

Something to look at while drunk on a Friday night. I am for a heavy old Mitchell, 65 mm low-speed colour negative, processing in Madrid, Spain, carbon-arc lamps, 70 mm contact dailies, sound dailies on 35 full coat, so that everybody involved might have his share of excitement from early in the morning to open ends, and don't forget the projectionists who will love your prints. It's All About Love. What's the title of the thing, anyway ?

Leo Anthony Vale
If your serious about the "best camera for porn?" question, then I would go for a lightweight 16mm camera like the Eclair NPR. And go for a with some expired Ektachrome, probably wouldn't be cost feasible for a porn-flick, but at least then you would get some hardcore experimental, porn. When I was at Sawyer, one of our regular customers was Manny G Productions, gay hard core. If Manny G came in in the morning, he wore a wig; in the late afternoon, a baseball cap. His cameraman, Bernie K, would come clutching his girl friend; letting us know he only shot the stuff. Any way, they used a Frezzi Auricon conversion, single system. The "washed out desaturated look " is achieved by over exposing the Ektachrome. but you can't get mag stripe Ektachrome anymore. God damn you, EPA! God damn you to hell. Just as the BNC is the classic Hollywood camera, the Auricon converversion is the classic porn camera.

Carl Brighton
I suppose depth of field has to be a consideration. If you had someone like the late John Holmes in your film, small format imagers might give you an advantage in that the whole thing might tend to stay in focus. Best tools for the job and all that. Little known Holmes Fact: In the film "Boogie Nights" the main character was supposed to be based on John Holmes. However it unfairly portrayed Holmes as a simpleton. In reality, when he was in front of a camera, the blood tended to drain away from his brain to other parts of his body, giving the unfortunate impression of retardation.
