  1. Bought eight 400ft rolls of 16mm double-x about nine months ago directly from Kodak for a shoot that was cancelled due to covid. It's been in a refrigerator since then, so should be just about as good as new. Prefer to sell it all, but happy to sell in parts as well. Located in LA, so local pickup/drop-off preferred but can ship if paid for. Looking for 130/roll, but open to offers.
  2. Hi, I've recently acquired an Aaton LTR 7 and was wondering if it was possible to fit a variable shutter in the LTR to allow flicker free filming at 24fps in 50hz countries? I know some lights will be fine, my concern is practical lights which will pulse with a 180˚ shutter at 24fps. Thanks, Jacob
  3. Hi Group, I've just joined. I recently bought an Arri S 16mm on ebay. The camera has come from Italy and used to belong to RAI in Rome (Italian Public Broadcasting), which may explain some of the quirks; I live in the UK by the way. My intention is to use it to make a short 16mm film later in the year. Before that though, I need to get it working and to run a test film through it. Hopefully you'll be able to help me. I have included photos of all the issues raised below. I've attached all relevant photos. The camera came with two battery packs that don't work - the elements need chan

  5. Hello, I would like to hear some advice, tips.. About 16mm film Vision 3 and it's grain. I recently shot a roll of 100 feet of Vision 3 250D and it turned out great for a Krasnogorsk K3 that I bought for $70 on ebay. I noticed grain specially in the shadows even when I was exposing for middle gray or 18% gray and I had enough light. Nothing wrong with grain. I understand is part of the texture of film and I like it. What I don't like is that after color grading the video (2k, ProRes 444) The grain was moving a lot and it was more like RGB grain than the organic look of film grain.
  6. Hi all, I have recently bought a Bolex H16 EBM. I have charged the battery for 15 hours and when I place it on the camera the red warning sign turns on and stays on (motor not working) I have searched it up and I know these old batteries (12V) can be defected. I tried again this evening and placed it on the camera, but then the light started to flicker and turned off and stayed off. The motor was not running at that time either. I’m scared the electronics inside the camera is defected? If so what can I do to make the motor work? I also know that the batteries to the camera may giving too

  8. I’m shooting with V3 500T 7219 this weekend and I haven’t been able to find a good source of information regarding using LED fixtures (Lite Mat Plus 1 S2, Hive Wasp-100C, Quasar Q-LED) on film. According to the Kodak via the Vision 3 brochure it states “If the kind of lamp is unknown, a KODAK WRATTEN2 Color Compensating Filter CC30R + CC20Y can be used with an exposure index (EI) of 250. Light Source Exposure Index “ which seems like a safer bet, however I was going to mix in a few Tungsten fixtures for hard light. Has anyone worked with these LED lamps and V3 500

  11. Hey guys, I'm looking to buy some original Kodak A-wind film for my A Minima. Alternatively I would also buy the plastic spools which came with the film, I'd need 4 of them.
  12. Hi, I'm currently in pre-production on a "kitchen-sink" social realism drama and I'm looking at films like 'Fish Tank' and 'This is England' as visual references for the look of this film. I want to use the flat and dry colour palettes used in these films to create a similar mood and atmosphere for my film. Eventhough my influences are from an 80's style, this is a creative choice for a film with a contemporary story. I will be testing the Sony F55 and the Blackmagic distagon lenses next week to see if this would be a possible substitute for shooting 16mm film as this would be too expe
  13. I was featured on Kodak's Instagram feed today which was cool. I came up with a new use for an old fish tank. https://www.instagram.com/p/BKD3ihkBD6k/?taken-by=kodak_shootfilm&hl=en
  14. Hey everybody, On another thread awhile ago I saw somebody looking for advice on how to achieve that "Kodachrome look" when there aren't many reversal options left. There was a great suggestion to try making a print of the negative, and transferring THAT. Has anybody done this, and does anybody have any links to the results? 20 years ago in film school, I remember getting a 16mm work print transferred to VHS (!) and I remember it looked cool, but that was a long time ago and I don't still have it. I would love to see iif this is worth doing, or if it's too much hassle / exp
