  2. Hi everyone, i recently have been working with an Aaton XTR Prod camera, and the footage has light leak stripes. I wonder if someone had the same issue with this camera? Stripes have frequency, moving from bottom to the top of frame, which makes me think there is light hitting the film after the gate. My first thought was not properly attached magazine. Any other ideas?
  3. I'm selling my set of Super16 Optar Illumina cinema lenses along with brand new adapters for EF and MFT. As I've decided to switch to Super35 format I no longer need these lenses - they've never been used other than for tests so the glass is 100% clean - plus they've come directly from the KMZ factory - brand new with standard 0.8 pitch gears on the focus/iris rings. I purchased them as a modern alternative to Zeiss Super Speeds (which they were modeled on) since I was after a fast lens that could work well in available light. The quality of the glass is great, but some of the lenses are a little stiff from sitting around boxed in the factory. As they are in Arri-B mount, I'll include 4 x EF / 3 x MFT Micro 4/3 adapters. Lenses would look great on the Ursa Micro 4.6K in 2K window mode, BM pocket camera, Sony F5/F55/FS7 in 2K crop mode, RED Raven/Dragon in 2K/3K crop etc. 8mm T1.3 - Arri-B 9.5mm T1.3 Arri-B 12mm T1.3 Arri-B 16mm T1.3 Arri-B 25mm T1.3 Arri-B 50mm T1.3 Arri-B https://flic.kr/s/aHskxDQeMd USD5500 for the set including adapters (Paypal or wire transfer. Buyer pays shipping and fees) If you'd like test footage please do not hesitate to ask and I will upload some images / video tests in your preferred lighting. Happy to answer any questions as I spent quite a lot of time researching and putting this set together. Thanks for looking.

  6. Hi! I recently got a Arri 416 so I've decided to sell my Aaton A-minima kit (I can't have it all, haha). It's ex-rental and was inspected by Aaton themselves before I bought it at beginning of 2015. Batteries have new cells. Everything works just perfect except for the built in light meter dome that I choose to not have Aaton fix since it's more of a gimmick then a useful feature in my opinion. Would prefer a Eu-sale, but I may ship world wide depending on the circumstances. Pick up in Stockholm, Sweden would be great :) Great kit to pick up and start shooting. Contact me if you're seriously interested and we'll take it from there regarding price etc. Best regards/Kalle Folke, Sweden www.kallefolke.se List of the kit: 1x Aaton A-Minima 1x PAL b/w video assist 3x magazines with covers 1x Aaton Cha-3 charger with cables 2x A-Minima batteries (new cells) 1x top-handle 1x Aaton power base 2x rods for power base ca 2,5tum 2x rods for power base ca 5tum 1x manual 2x extra rubberbands for eyepiece 1x cover for video assist port Cables: 1x 4-pin lemo - 4-pin xlr 1x 4-pin xlr male-female 1x long start/stop-cable lemo-lemo 1x "super long" start/stop-kabel with switch 1x start/stop-kabel for top-handle Also empty spools and film cans for re-spooling of film.
  7. Hello Everyone, I am a T.A. in a cinematography class at Arizona State and I convinced my teacher to do a workshop with a 16mm camera. Being how new our Film School is we have no film cameras, only digital, so we are renting an SRIII to show the class and possibly shoot some stuff. My professor and I wanted to show everyone what it's like to shoot on film and how careful you have to be with exposure, how to use light meters, etc., and implementing these structures for when you shoot on digital. Rather than the typical status quo of students just blindly shooting and guessing on exposure. I was reaching out to the cinematography community for help, if anyone has any short ends or exposed super 16 film we could use to help the students with (show how to load the magazines, etc.) that would be amazing. Kind of a long shot to ask on here but I thought it wouldn't hurt. Thanks, Danner Gardner
  8. Music video looking for cinematographer (as well as anyone else in camera dept.), who has experience shooting super16 and can work locally in central/south Texas. Ideally, looking for someone who owns their own equipment. Pretty tight budget, though me, label, artist are fairly committed to shooting celluloid. It's been kind of difficult finding people who are still shooting film in this part of the country, very much looking for someone I can continue to work with in the future. PM or email (matgerbs16@hotmail.com) for more details. Thanks. Matt
  9. Hi there everyone, Just wished to know what kind of circular filter would fit/cover a zeiss 11-110, a super 16 zoom lens? Will a Tiffen 86C from B&H photo video be good enough? thanks
  10. For sell a Zeiss SuperSpeed 9.5mm T1.3 S16, a great luminous wide angle cine lens. I sell it because i search a zoom instead of primes. Price is 900 Euros + shipping. Regarding the state of the optics there is no mushroom / fungus / dust inside. There are slight "cleaning marks" on the glass, as well on the front and rear element, obviously not affecting the image. But there is no claw or crack on the glass. I bought it for a French DP who took great care. Cosmetically really in good condition, the paint and the numbers / lettering are there. The aperture ring is very fluid, the focus ring is less fluid, a little harder, but it doesen't affect the focus at all, change focus is easy. Super Speeds are among the best Super 16 lens and they have been used on many feature films. The resulting image is still impressive today. This is a test that I realized with the Blackmagic Pocket: https://vimeo.com/129887125 I am at your disposal for any additional questions, optic can be seen in Belgium. The lens is Arri Bayonet mount, also i sell the adapter Arri Bayonet to MFT from Ciecio7 for 90 euros extra. This adapter is one of the best available adapter and is shimmable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arri-Bayonet...-/251176724708
  11. So I bought the Angenieux 17-68mm f/2.2 c-mount lens for my MFT cameras and I am wanting to use my variable ND filter on it. Obviously I needed a step up ring adaptor. I read at vintagelensesforvideo.com in the comments section of the post about this lens that it was most likely a series 7 filter. So I bought a series 7 to 58mm adaptor; I was way too big. I then bought a series 6 to series 7 adaptor; this was barely too small. I've gone to all the local Dallas/Fort Worth camera shops and they all have no clue. Does anyone know what the front filter specifications are for this lens? Any help much appreciated! Alex
  12. Hello, I have the opportunity to get a (super16 converted) Canon 11-165mm (PL) for a very reasonable price. I previously used the 10-100 Angénieux on my Super16 SR2 but was somewhat disappointed with the image quality (in terms of contrast and sharpness). The man at the lab put it simply (but perfectly): "It was ok in the 80s, but it simply doesn't meet today's expectations of focus, contrast and all-over look." I was wondering if anybody had experiences with this lens, or even footage (16mm) that could be shared. I am not sure if testing the lens is of great use to me, since my only reference is the Angénieux and I guess it won't be hard to "beat" it. Will one be able to tell the difference between images from this lens and those aqcuired with primes on Super16mm? Will this lens meet our 'modern' expectations? Thank you and a good day to all.
  13. Hi! I just got a used Super16 lens to compliment my super speeds. It's a Panther Cinar Super Super16 8mm T1.3. It looks just like a super speed mkIII and has a really solid and nice feel to it. Since Panther is still an active company I email'd them to see if they could tell me more about the lens. The person who answered had never even heard that they had made lenses… But he found some old documents about a couple of zooms and 7mm + 35mm primes. Would be nice if anyone had some knowledge about this lens, thank you!
  14. For sale is a Canon TV zoom 15-150 in great shape. The housing has signs of wear and tear, but optically in excellent + condition. Has a C mount on it, but that is removable and many different kinds of mounts can be attached. It covers the S16 frame completely, so it will cover Blackmagic Pocket camera as well. It has snappy contrast and is rather sharp. Asking $599 US. Paypal only. email me for photos
  15. Hi folks, Wish to know what is the best place to get my Super 16 camera and Zeiss 11-110 serviced in New York city?
  16. Anyone have experience with the Arri 416 timecode module? After jamming the camera/attaching a sync-box, the TC light blinks... which means it's not actually recording the timecode onto the film. After consulting the manual, the error code it gives me corresponds to 'timecode led not recognized' and suggests to check the timecode module. I'm not sure where the timecode module is, and I have a hunch that the 400' magazines we're using aren't equipped with the module to burn the timecode in. Where is the timecode module located on the mag/camera?
  17. Im finally shooting on film again in a few months on a short film. Our budget will only allow us to shoot 16, but Im considering using ENR -- which I might fund myself -- because the dark storyline could be enhanced by slightly bleak and contrasty cinematography. Ive never heard of anyone using any silver retention processing on 16, so naturally Im curious if there is any precedent. Has anyone heard about or tried this? Im going to test this, obviously, but it would be nice to know as much as I can before testing. Its been so long since Ive shot film that Im not even sure ENR is still offered at FotoKem (LA) or Technicolor (LA) anymore. Last I heard skip bleach and ENR are still an option.

  19. Hi there everyone, greetings! Thought I will brief everyone on how super16 is still going popular with indie filmmakers and independent producers. 1. I shot a roadie film BOOM BOOM WALE in November last year for a director friend, is finally coming up for DI grading next week. The film was shot on a small budget. I used china balls and some practical lights for interiors and exteriors were all shot without lights. The results are good and the director is happy. 2. Am currently filming SANDRA BEDS SANDEEP on super 16 using Kodak Vision 3 stocks - 50D and 200T. My producer is a young guy who comes from television background. When we were doing pre prod he was slight apprehensive of super 16 being grainy. But I showed him some results and he loved it. He ran the numbers for both digital cine cameras and film cameras with stocks and he concluded that film turns out cheaper with good looks in built in the negative. and after that he hasn't looked back. What started as another shoestring film shot handheld turned into a full fledged feature. He hired studio spaces, built sets, got me lighting and grips package, generator vans, etc. He is satisfied with the results so far. almost 90% of principle photography is over. 3. The same producer now intends to start my second film JACKnJILL on Super 16 to be shot tentatively in Oct 2014. Earlier he was thinking of upgrading it to 35 but 16 is good he feels. It has a hell lot of character and feel.
  20. For those of you who've actually used it, is the ARRIFLEX 416 Plus HS louder than the regular speed range 416 models? The former is rated at 29 dB while the latter two are 20 dB. However, unless I'm misinterpreting the specification, I suspect the sound level measurement is referring to operation at the top speed (150 fps vs 75 fps). Or does it actually make more noise at standard frame rates like 24 fps?
  21. I recently purchased an Eclair NPR with Perfectone motor from some one who doesn't know much about it. While practicing to adjust the shutter with some stripped clear film leaded in the mag, I noticed that the film gate covers the film aspect and one perforation side. Does this mean that the camera has been modified to super 16?
  22. As some of you may know, we recently acquired a Lasergraphics ScanStation at Gamma Ray Digital. We're putting together some demo videos, and would like to include as many formats as the scanner can handle. We're all set with Regular 8, Super8 and 16mm, but if you have high quality (sharp, well lit, G-rated) footage in Super 16, Ultra 16 or Max 8, please send me a PM. We're looking for things like landscapes/cityscapes, architectural footage, nature footage, slow motion or timelapse. Basically, footage with relatively little camera motion so that we can easily put titles over it. In exchange for letting us use your footage on our website and YouTube/Vimeo channels (with credit, of course), we'll scan a couple rolls (50 footers for Max8 or 100 footers for Super/Ultra16) at no charge to 2k DPX, TIFF or ProRes files - your choice. As a thank-you, we'll also give you a deep discount rate on additional scanning. We can only offer this to the first couple of people who send us film in each format, so if you do have this kind of footage, please let me know so we can make arrangements. Here's an example of one of the videos we've already made: I hope this doesn't come across as spammy - we're really just looking for some footage to show off the machine and I'm too impatient to wait for the right material to come along! Thanks! -perry
  23. Hello everyone, I have been trying to find some information concerning this lens: Arriflex standard mount, zeiss standard speed 16mm (for 16mm, this is planar) f2: does it cover super16? Thanks!
  24. My brother and I own a modified Arri SR1 and would like to get some accessories for it. I apologize in advanced- we are more familiar with lighting and grip than with camera. We are looking for the following items: -New right handle w/trigger (we have one, but the trigger is sticky so we'd like to find a new one, possibly a left handle as well) -Back body cap (right now we keep a magazine on it to keep it covered up) -Shoulder pad (we could build our own little pad but were hoping to find something that can mount tot he camera) Also looking for a vintage tripod and head too if anyone knows any places in LA (or San Francisco) that sells old film camera parts and accessories. Thanks! -Phill Matarrese
