  1. For sale is our full Super 16mm ARRI SR3 Advanced Highspeed kit. This is a full kit including everything you need to shoot. We purchased the camera in 2014 and have used it on a couple of shoots. In 2016 we had it professionally serviced by Panavision in Sydney, one of the batteries was also repacked in 2016 by battery world. See the gear list (Picture) for everything included in the kit with a description of the condition. It was most recently used for a short film in January 2019. As you would expect the kit has got standard wear and tear, the previous owners were Panavision UK. This wear and tear is cosmetic only and does not effect the functionality of the camera. The lens is in mint condition, no fungus or haze. The focus and aperture ring is smooth. We are based in Adelaide, South Australia. Can post via (insured) courier at buyers expense or local pickup. Payment via bank deposit, PayPal (2.6% surcharge) or cash. No returns. For further information please contact Liam Harvey (telecaster7007@gmail.com) or Declan Brown (dbrown5012@gmail.com) serious enquiries only. We are also including 2300ft of 16mm film, the Kodak stocks are old/expired stock, the Fuji stock was bought in 2014 with the camera and has been refrigerated since we got it. We used some fuji stock from the same batch at the beginning of this year and the footage was perfect. The kit is priced to sell at $10,000 AUD We want to sell this is as a kit, so please refrain from asking us about the prices of individual items. Link to a gallery of items in the kit: SR3 Album
  2. Hi, I work at a teaching facility where we have six Arri-S kits with matte boxes. We've been able to maintain all the equipment for a very long time, but one thing we're running out of and can't seem to find are the trays that hold the 2 x 2" filters. We're down to one per matte box, instead of the two they can hold. Does anyone know where I can obtain more? Or is there a relatively sturdy DIY replacement? Could a holder be 3-D printed? Thanks for any advice! Lev
  3. Hey everyone, I've had a handful of rolls developed from my Bolex H16 RX, and all have had a vertical purple line throughout each frame on the left hand side. There's a faint line on the right hand side as well, but less prominent. The line is more apparent in underexposed footage. Image attached of an underexposed clip. Anyone know what this might be? Some sort of a light leak, or is something scratching the film? Thanks in advance for any help.
  4. Hey everyone! I've got a few lenses that I'm letting go of. Every single one has just been to duall for CLA (which was almost $1k in getting them all good to go). OPTAR ILLUMINA s16 4 LENS SET: 9.5mm 12mm 16mm 25mm with hardcase — $4500 obo the illuminas are in 'hard' PL, not B mount with some crappy adapter. ELITE "Panther" 7mm t1.3 PL MOUNT: amazing lens, cover a whole room! Wider and sharper than the 8mm illumina, but still cuts well — $2800 obo . OPTEX s16 2xTENDER: $800 obo Illuminas + 2xtender: $5200 obo 'Panther' + 2xtender: $3400 obo Illuminas + 'Panther': $6800 obo Illuminas + 'Panther' + 2xtender: $7200 obo shoot me an email! mhs at 16by40 (or look us up). any questions, feel free to ask! photos:
  5. Can anyone please help me identify a two (round) pin (plus earth 'flange') connector on an RCA Holywood cine projector. The plug (though the plug contains copper pin sockets) has Nettle T80120 written on it. The plug is 120/240v and there is one socket on the projector (with copper pins) as well as earth 'blocks'. There is also a transformer with a plug (bakelite-falling apart) and I also need another plug (to standard three pin uk plug) to plug into the transformer to provide 240v. For images of the socket and the plug, please see: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XC-CEt4hgsNrMVI-tXjdva_kQ3HN9pnC/view?usp=sharing I'd be particularly interested if there is a modern (i.e. non bakelite) version available. Thank you Andy
  6. I'm a student making the transition from digital to film and my next project will be shot entirely on 16mm. I'm interested in purchasing a working ARRI SR I or II. My budget is around $1200. I reside in the U.S. You may email me at willjacobscinephile@gmail.com
  7. Does anyone know where I could find a dummy roll of 400ft 16mm to pratice loading? Thanks.
  8. Hi everyone, I own an Aaton LTR 7, and I was hoping someone would be able to offer some advice on a bridge plate / rig that would be compatible. The wooden grip handle that came with the camera constantly comes loose and is more annoying than practical for handheld shooting. I'd prefer to just sort a set up with rails and moose bars that I can adjust more easily. I found an ARRI BP-5 on ebay but it seems that they work best with 35mm / Digital cameras. Can anyone recommend an alternative bridge plate that could work? Any suggestions/ recommendations would be super appreciated! Thanks

  13. Hello Everyone, I just released my latest short film, POKERS, that I wrote, directed, and co-starred in, along with my producing partner and DP (who is also a member of this forum). It's a 9 minute short about four men sharing their perspectives on their shared occupation during a game of poker. It was shot on 16MM Fujifilm Eterna 250 via Arri HR3 HS in Super 16. I would love it hear any feedback and criticism. I am still very new to filmmaking and look forward to learning and growing. I hope you enjoy it:

  15. Im about to shoot a short film on 16mm, and were gonna use back projection (the projection itself would be digital, and its material shot on digital camera). I would appreciate any advice since i never did this. my concerns are mostly two: 1. whats the best way to expose/ measure the projection? 2. should I take any special precautions to avoid flickering? or will it be fine just as long as the camera and the projector are set to the same frame rate? if i plan to use hand cranck, I imagine there is no way to avoid variable flickering, right? Thanks Daniel

  17. Hello peeps, I've been trying to find this info for a long time, but I couldn't find anything. I already checked all the threads on the CP section, so I have to ask: Does anyone knows what's the focal flange distance of the CP-16r? Thanks

  19. I am getting yellow lines on my film, I checked the wheels they seem fine they spin, is it the gate ? is it because i shot in expired film ? i hate it i shoot a 400ft roll and the yellow line is present in the whole film. i wanna know whats wrong with my CP-16r, has anyone experienced with this problem before? video:
  20. Hey everyone, I wanted to see if anyone could help me out. I wanted to know if anyone could recommend the best export settings from Adobe Media Encoder for a 16mm scan. I am fine with grain, in fact I love it. I have a project thats completely hand processed kodak 7222, and the results are quite grainy. The problem I have is that when I export the h.264 file for web, the grain just becomes ugly blotches and pixels. I've tried for many hours to get the best export, including raising my bit rate and everything. I know there must be a good method, because i've seen film scans that have quite a bit of grain on the web, but the detail is preserved, so i'm completely at a loss. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Derick
  21. I have never dealt with Cinelab before. I was mainly interested in their Xena 2k scans as they are better at reading underexposure and I was running and gunning at night and mainly just using a beater handheld cam I acquired and was more of a camera/scratch test and comparing scans to a certain degree. I sent in 100' of 7219 to be processed and scanned at 2k thinking this would cost around $70. I initially selected DPX but the decided ProRes would be more than fine. I tried to call and emailed Robert as soon as it went out and said I didn't update the order form to ProRes my apologies. There is no drive. I would just like an upload to Dropbox in ProRes and because I am not particularly attached to the negatives, I didn't include return shipping. Days later no response. Filled out their order form which said nothing about minimums on it and they pricing sheets are somewhat unclear and very scattered. I didn't think twice about it and figured if they had a problem they would call or reach out. I woke up this am to $161 charge. Thinking this was a mistake I reached out with an email with my form attached and also in line with the previous emails I sent before. This was the response I got: HI Charges were: $115 min charge for process and a 2K scan 2.00 for DPX frames $30 for a thumb drive for DPX frames (we don't upload DPX) $14 for UPS shipping. I can change that to ProRes and do an upload which will save $32 So 100' of 7219 cost me $161 because they never saw the email that I sent and also just started assuming things and billed me for items and services that I never was asked about. I understand that my order form was initially filled out incorrect but I tried to call and email to no avail. This honestly could have just been taken care of with a phone call or email to clarify, especially if there is no drive, no request for a drive to be purchased and at least have this brought to my attention. I talked to a few other DPs and asked them what they thought. "Shady as hell" seemed to be the general consensus.
  22. Hey Everyone, I'm looking for a 16mm film synchronizer, if anyone has one they would be willing to part with cheaply. I don't need anything fancy, and a 2 bank is fine. Just need something that works. Let me know if anyone has one they would be willing to get rid of. Best, Derick
  23. Hey there looking to buy a complete Arriflex 16mm package, have been looking at the Arriflex 16SR1-3 series. Must be willing to ship to Sydney, Australia. Cheers Sam
  24. Hi friends. I have an Arriflex 16BL with tobin TXM-15 sync that I tried to use today. Its worked many a times before in the past. Today I hit the button to shoot; and nothing happens. What the hell? I take the mag off to see if it was jammed or something; and more smoke than cheech and Chongs car came wafting out of the gear area. Gosh darn it. I take the motor housing off and I see this- 5amp blown fuse. Okay but where was the smoke coming from?? My inching knob is broken as well. Any suggestions? I have all the pieces. The motor still turns by hand, have yet to get the replacement DC fuse. Questions now 1. The motor shows 9,5V motor. I have a 12v 7.5mah battery. Direct leads to a power cable, to Tobin system. Am I over-powering the camera with this battery? Or does the tobin system have some sort of conversion from 12v to 9.5v for the motor? 2. What do you think was the cause of the smoking? Upon inspection of what I could disassemble, I see no melted resistors or plastic or wires, etc. see pictures. 3. Suggestions on replacement of the inching knob? **** pictures to come****
